Growing up, I always wanted a career that involved helping people. Whether it was centre stage or behind the scenes, I wanted to end every day knowing that I made a difference. After spending the first 17 years of my life in Halton, I moved to Niagara to attend Brock University for English, then Niagara College for Journalism. Once I graduated, I returned to Burlington and started working as a customer service representative for Metroland Media. There, I solved readers’ problems with compassion and heard the occasional life story.

The need to be closer to these stories brought me up to the newsroom as a proofreader for the daily and weekly publications. I also worked for a B2B magazine during that time, profiling businesses and organizations in Australia and Canada. These copy editing and writing skills became second nature, and I transitioned to a full-time position with Iovate Health Sciences. With a little finesse, product descriptions leapt off the page and helped consumers decide which products were best for their active lifestyles.

That same year, I sealed the deal and purchased a condo in Hamilton’s coveted Durand neighbourhood! Going through this process first-hand was intriguing and sparked an avid interest in the world of real estate. Soon, I was keeping an eye out for signs as I walked around every corner, and found excitement in seeing new homes for sale and researching the listings online. Now, I’m thrilled to turn this excitement into a career, working with The Deborah Brown Team to establish connections with our valued clients and ensure that every detail of their home buying or selling process is taken care of.

Connecting with clients is an integral part of the industry, from listing to close and beyond. When it comes to forming lasting business relationships, congeniality and strong interpersonal skills are two key assets to have at your fingertips. Along with my diverse set of skills, I believe that I have brought these qualities to the table, and I will use them to the best of my ability in assisting the Deborah Brown Team!
